Privacy Policy for Preflight
Last updated: June 8, 2026
Preflight is a Chrome extension that watches AI prompts as users type, spots missing context, organizes ideas, and helps split complex requests into smarter steps. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension processes, how it is used, and what choices you have.
1. What Preflight does
Preflight reads the text currently being drafted in supported AI chat input boxes and provides prompt suggestions, rewrite assistance, and optional staged-send guidance. The extension is designed to support this single purpose only.
2. Information we process
Preflight may process the following information:
- Prompt draft text that you type into supported AI chat input boxes.
- Extension settings, such as UI language and keyboard shortcuts.
- Authentication information, such as a Google OAuth authorization code and Preflight session token, when Google sign-in is enabled to access the managed backend.
- Google account profile information, such as email address, display name, and profile picture, to show sign-in status inside the extension.
- Basic request metadata received by the backend, such as IP address, request type, request timing, and error status, for security, rate limiting, and debugging.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Analyze prompt drafts and generate missing-context suggestions.
- Rewrite and organize prompt drafts at the user's request.
- Provide optional staged-send guidance when a prompt may work better as two messages.
- Authenticate users, prevent abuse, apply rate limits, and troubleshoot service issues.
- Save user preferences so the extension behaves consistently across supported pages.
4. Local storage
Preflight stores extension preferences locally using chrome.storage.local. Local settings are not sold or used for advertising.
5. Backend and AI provider processing
In managed mode, prompt draft text and related request payloads are sent to Preflight's backend API. The backend may send the prompt content to managed AI service providers selected by Preflight to generate suggestions, rewrites, or split guidance. The provider or model may change over time. These requests are used only to provide the extension's prompt-assistance features.
6. Google sign-in
If Google sign-in is enabled, Preflight uses Chrome's identity API to open a Google OAuth sign-in flow. The authorization code is sent to the backend only to verify access to the managed service and create a Preflight session. The extension may also read basic Google profile information, such as email address, display name, and profile picture, to display account status in the options page. Preflight does not use Google sign-in to access Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or other Google services.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell user data. We do not transfer user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes. Data may be processed by infrastructure and AI service providers only as needed to operate Preflight.
8. Data retention
Preflight aims to minimize retention of prompt content. Backend logs may retain limited request metadata for debugging, reliability, security, and abuse prevention. Local extension settings remain on your device until you change or remove them.
9. Security
Preflight uses HTTPS for backend requests and avoids executing remote JavaScript or WebAssembly code. Access tokens and request data are used only for the extension's stated purpose.
10. Your choices
You can disable or remove the extension at any time from Chrome's extensions page. You can change extension settings from the Preflight options page. Removing the extension removes its local settings from your browser according to Chrome's extension storage behavior.

12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Preflight evolves. The updated policy will be posted at this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
